Potty Training Male Puppy

Help! I'm having trouble potty training my male pitbull/American Bulldog mix puppy. He just turned four months, and was doing so well with asking to go out. Now, he's urinating while walking through the house! We have little "snail trails" everywhere, and it's getting old. Plus, he's not even asking to poop outside anymore. Anyone have any suggestions? Like I said, we were doing really well, and nothing has changed training-wise. Thanks!

Re: Potty Training Male Puppy

I would suggest first having him checked by a vet to make sure he doesn't have a bladder infection. If he comes back ok, you may be just having a set back in training OR you are assuming he is more potty trained than he really is and not being as vigilent with him.

I would restrict his freedom in the house right now. No wandering off on his on, being in a crate when he can not be watched CONSTANTLY etc.

You can attach him to you by a long leash so that he is with you at ALL times. make sure his potty times are routine (after play, sleeping, eating etc). Go back to the very basics. Be patient. he is still a baby. he may be starting to teeth (losing baby teeth) which can cause his training to go off. His mouth may hurt and he is just not focusing on potty habits right now.

Again patience and constant monitoring is the key.
